Estoril Circuit Hosts Special Classic Car Race in July

With a four-month hiatus in classic car races, Race Ready has decided to organise a unique event that promises to challenge drivers and teams innovatively – the SevenFriday Classic Cup.

On July 13th and 14th, the Estoril Circuit will be the stage for this special race in partnership with SevenFriday, a lifestyle brand known for defying norms based on personal beliefs, dreams, and experiences.

The SevenFriday Classic Cup will be open to all cars homologated or produced between 1960 and 1999. With a duration of 60 minutes, a set of unique rules for this race will ensure that all drivers and machines can compete fairly, considering various factors.

To level the playing field, the organisers will implement a handicap system to be applied during the mandatory pit stop. This system, based on the age and homologation of each vehicle, can introduce up to 4 minutes of difference during this stop.

Teams that include a novice driver in circuit racing will receive an additional 60-second handicap benefit, making it the perfect opportunity for those who have always dreamed of competing at speed. Novice drivers will receive extra training over the weekend, ensuring proper preparation for the race.

Additionally, drivers who prefer to race with slick tyres will have the option to do so in a Race Ready race. However, those opting for road-homologated tyres will gain a 30-second advantage during pit stops.

There will also be a handicap system based on the age, type, and engine capacity of the cars, with older and smaller-engined vehicles benefiting the most.

SevenFriday, the unique watch brand inspired by the modern world and represented in Portugal by Importempo, will be the official event sponsor, providing unparalleled visibility. The race winner will take home an exclusive SevenFriday watch.

According to Diogo Ferrão, CEO of Race Ready, this will be "an excellent event for all classic car racing enthusiasts and an opportunity for those wanting to race before the long summer break. The handicap system will create balance between drivers and machines. All participants will have the opportunity to test on Friday, a crucial day for anyone trying out a new car or teaming up with a new colleague."

An estimated five thousand spectators are expected at the Estoril Circuit over the three-day event, with the race taking place as part of the Portuguese Speed Championship / Iberian Supercars programme, and live streaming available worldwide.
